Returning Money to Your Community
Making It Safer & Stronger

Attractive communities attract investment. From average citizens looking for well-appointed neighborhoods and communities to businesses looking to house their operations, investment follows the money. When taxes you pay are reinvested in your Main Street, government is working as it is meant to by giving you a rock-solid return on investment.

This view is basic economics but remains the single most challenging pathway to progress facing lawmakers today.

In her first session representing you in the Legislature, Delegate Guthrie worked together with other legislators to return money to your communities for:

  • Funding to address equipment upgrades needed to comply with
    accreditation of WVU Tech.

  • Permanent funding a relocation of WV Poison Control Center and Hotline.

  • Emergency funding to the town of Glasgow to repair a broken
water/sewer main that ruptured during the winter of 2007.

  • Funding for the Kanawha County Public Library System.

  • Funding for the Volunteer Fire Departments of Loudendale,
Malden, Rand, Belle, Cedar Grove, Glasgow, Smithers, Handley, Montgomery, Pratt, Cabin Creek, Chesapeake, East Bank and Marmet.

  • Funding for Kanawha Valley Senior Services and the Putnam
    Aging Program.

  • Funding for construction of a new playground at Montrose
    Elementary school in South Charleston.

  • Funding for restoration of the historic Tiskelwah Community
    Center.

  • Funding for facility upgrades to the Appalachian Center for
    Independent Living.

  • Funding for the YWCA Sojourner Shelter for Homeless Women &
    Families.

  • Funding for the Charleston Public Safety Council.

  • Funding for the WV Music Hall of Fame.

    County 4-H Leaders Association

    Home.
