When I campaigned as a Democrat I promised to judge legislation by four simple standards. In my first session representing you I believe I was as good as my word. In the future I will continue to press on to uphold my promise to you with clarity and consistency.
As a Democrat with progressive views, I believe like so many people that government should guarantee every citizen enough to eat and a place to sleep. I think government should help the needy and provide more services even if it means readjusting the budget. Regulated and well-run government programs that guarantee good service delivered by well-trained, well-paid employees is the best return on investment your tax money can buy.
