About Delegate Guthrie
![]()
Nancy Guthrie is serving her first term in the West Virginia House of Delegates after winning her first election in 2006. She is a Democrat and grateful to the citizens of Kanawha County for electing her to serve them in the 30 th District. The 30 th District of Kanawha County runs from Montgomery to St. Albans, Alum Creek to Mink Shoals, and includes most of Charleston – the seat of state government.
Nancy decided to run for public office because she firmly believes citizens deserve consistency from government. Campaign promises and public policy ought to improve the everyday reality most people live. Without consistency the public feels betrayed and loses interest in the political process and what we call democracy.
When Nancy campaigned she promised to judge any West Virginia legislation by four simple standards. First, that legislation lowers your cost of living allowing you to spend and save more freely. Second, that legislation lowers state debt without cutting programs and services. Third, that legislation returns money to your community making it safer and more attractive for investment. And fourth, that legislation puts your needs first.
In her first session of the Legislature she was good to her word and will remain consistent in these standards.
